Simon Kimbangu founds new church, 1921. The Eglise de Jesus-Christ sur la Terre par la Prophete Simon Kimbangu (EJCSK) was formed as an independent church in the Belgian Congo. This was part of a phenomenon throughout Africa during this time in which people were breaking away from existing churches or forming churches on their own, which would incorporate more African beliefs and practices into Christianity.
