African History from the 1400s to the 1800s #9

Lozi Kingdom, 17th to 19th century.
The Lozi occupied the floodplain of the Zambezi River in present day Zambia. They had great skill in using varying water levels and different soil and grass conditions to develop an elaborate economy of agriculture, animal husbandry, and fishing. Treaties between the British and the Lozi, signed in 1890 and 1900, placed the Lozi under the governance of the British South African Company.
