African History from the 1400s to the 1800s #10

The Changamire Dynasty, 15th to 19th century. This dynasty was the greatest power in central Africa at the time, ruling a vast area between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers (today a part of Zimbabwe). Founder Changamire established contacts with the Arab traders. Although contacts with the Portuguese were initially encouraged from 1693 to 1695, the Changamire Empire later drove the Portuguese from all their stations in the interior.
