Activity Six: Homework Activities

  1. NY Times Daily Lesson Plans: Students are assigned two articles or stories about Africa and directed to compare and contrast.
  2. Home Discussion: Students are instructed to go home and ask parents and/or friends to write down five words about Africa, then discuss with them why they chose those words.
  3. Home Media: Students are instructed to find a reference to Africa in the local media (i.e. newspaper (Detroit Free Press, etc.), magazine article, etc.) and summarize it for class discussion.
  4. Home Consumer: Students are given a list of household goods and instructed to find them at home.
