Teacher Discussion
This is an exercise to help the students think about differences and similarities between their own lives and the lives of students in Africa. They should feel free to ask questions directly related to the photo, such as "Why are the students dressed alike?" or "Where are they going?" This is an opportunity for students to ask questions that may not have been addressed in the module. The photo is meant to stimulate discussion and raise questions on cross-cultural differences. It may get the students excited to find a pen pal in Africa and to ask some of the questions that have emerged during the module.
Ask students to discuss among themselves, and write down, questions they would like to ask the students they see in the picture. Have students visit the World Reach Website, and go to Pen Pals on the Student's Page. Here they will receive instructions on how to send their questions to fellow students in Africa and find pen pals of their own.
